Chanakya- The teacher and the advisor

Yesterday i bought a book called ," Chanakya- his teachings and advice" written by Miss ashwani sharma

I wanted to buy this book during my hyderabad stay- beginning of this year, during my visit to birla temple, the same book caught my eye, but wasn't very willing to buy- god knows why!!!

After a month long twitter gripped jail at my own home, was frustrated , my mind was looking for a fresh start !

Where else a person like me will go? of course, its a book shop, a famous book shop in madurai called " savodhaya illakiya pannai"

Most of our students, readers, educators, writers from madurai often visit this place. Me too.

So far, have read 3 chapters, i m amazed, believe me, its a rule, a define rule- few,we wouldn't be able to follow, because the present scenario is little different from chanakya's time.

But i m truly amazed! Okay, lets get into it ......

ON WOMAN

  • A Man can attract a woman, only if he has wealth
  • Both money and woman can deceive a man any moment
  • A man must give careful consideration to marriage
  • Do not haste in marrying
  • He must always marry into a family which enjoys an equal status in society
  • Beauty is mere skin deep
  • if she is belongs to unworthy family, he must not marry her
  • A woman is 4 times more brazen than a man
  • Woman has six times his courage and eight times his strength of passion
  • A man must show great regard for his queen, in law, wives friend
  • Men who approach relative woman for illicit relationship are depraved
  • Each religion woman are treated with great respect
  • When a man falls in love, he is unaware he has become a mere puppet in her hands
  • A frivolous woman who prattles incessantly, constantly muses over others, cannot maintain her fidelity
  • Only a chaste, astute, virtuous and mellifluent woman remains faithful to her husband
  • A man is powerfully influenced by her captivating, coquettish ways,
  • She then confines him to a prison of passion and irrational behavior
  • Men get maddened and intoxicated by his youth , love and drowns himself in a malestrom of endless pain and suffering
  • To abstain from a woman's enchating ways is the greatest virtue
  • A man must not copulate with his wife during her period of menstruation
  • Sagacious people never act upon a woman's adivce
It is immaterial she is captivating or ugly, for she has the power to control her husband in all possible ways.

I loved these, but few are discriminating, but we can forgive him for the fact, that he lived in a different era.

Yet, some of his views, being a woman, i myself agreeing .

Will write about friendship and family tomorrow.

Its interesting isn't it? After all, he was chanakya- the king maker

Ought to respect him

Continues

  2. Never knewed that Kautilaya aka Chanakya aka Vishnugupta was an expert regarding women too...Always thought him to be a master tactician, political strategist and an economist par excellance.

Btw, during last couple of years there has been a renewed interest about him in the literary circles and many a books been released based on him in different genres of fiction, corporate management and social-economic polity.

Ashwin Sanghi's bestseller Chanakya's Chant too was inspired to a great extend by him.
